South Shore at the Lake Shore. Former Chicago, South Shore, and South Bend Railroad 802 (2-D+D-2, GE) was produced by General Electric in Erie, PA as part of an order for the USSR. The order was not shipped due to trade restrictions that were imposed against the USSR during the engine's development. Of the 20 units that were produced, 3 of them were sold to the CSS&SB (5 to Brazil and 12 to Milwaukee Road). These electrics were tasked with freight operations on the CSS&SB. On the night of Saturday, January 23, 2021, a CSX intermodal freight passes the Lake Shore Railway Museum in North East, PA, while 802 sits retired inside the grounds of the former Lake Shore & Michigan Southern (New York Central) North East, Pennsylvania station. Sister unit 803 is part of the collection at the Illinois Railway Museum, and is operable.
