South Shore Line Train 503 (14, MU Coach, Nippon-Sharyo, 1982-83) is crossing Grant Street approaching the Gary Metro Center Station in Gary, Indiana on the morning of Saturday, January 30, 2021. These cars were part of the original "new" order to replace the legacy equipment from the Insull era of the South Shore and before by Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD). Although some of the line has metal catenary supports, other portions of The South Shore line maintain a vintage interurban appearance.
