      Remarks & Notes
Utah Railway’s #5001 is seen here entering home rails at Utah Railway Jct. This location is about 3 miles from downtown Helper, Utah. #5001 and 2 other UTAH units have just finished their helper duties assisting a loaded coal train up to Colton, Utah, near the top of the Soldier Summit grade. For today's pop quiz, what are the 4 things in this photo that no longer exist here at Utah Ry. Jct. OK, time’s up. First, #5001 is now assigned to Salt Lake Valley service as the UTAH has exited the coal business in eastern Utah. That old Rio Grande signal bridge in the background as well as another barely visible over the top of #5001 are long gone. They were torn down by the Union Pacific during the installation of PTC. And finally there is that white steam cloud in the background. It is from Utah Power Co’s Carbon Plant which was demolished and removed in 2016/17.
