Headed In.
A long train of Arrow III EMUs is seen on Line 2 approaching the portal of the East River Tunnels. Of the four tunnels, Line 2 is the only one with a portal so far west, as it crosses Line 3 underground. There is much to see at this vantage point, including the LIRR Hunterspoint Avenue station at right, the Flushing Line (7 train) of the Subway diving into its own tunnel at left, the Lower Montauk Branch of the LIRR crossing in the background (one of the ramps has now been demolished), and far in the background the Flushing Line crossing the yard again (spot the tan signal enclosures with red roofs), as well as myriad other signals, tracks, and infrastructure!
