California Department of Transportation SC-44 2116, in service on Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliners, is stationed at the passenger station in San Diego, California, as a protection unit. This locomotive was built in September 2018 by Siemens Mobility, located in Sacramento. This locomotive is a California native and has never been outside of the state. (April 2, 2021)
