Grand Trunk Western 4-8-2 No. 6039

Steamtown's 1925 Baldwin built Grand Trunk Western 4-8-2 "Mountain-type" No. 6039 is seen here, captured on temporary display posed on the Museum's turntable.

No. 6039 was leased to the Central Vermont Railway in the 1950's and was last steam locomotive in common carrier service in Vermont. She is one of fourteen surviving 'Mountain' types. The locomotive reportedly has bad cylinder castings making it unlikely to be restored to operation.
