"N Train via the Jamaica Line?"
"A New York City Transit transfer move, led by St. Louis Car Company R42 #4824, holds on the middle track at Broadway Junction station on the BMT Jamaica Line in Brooklyn, NY. This July 28th, 2021 move consisted of six R42s and was enroute to East New York Yard after picking up a pair from Canarsie Yard on the Canarsie Line.
The R42s entered service in 1969 and ran in passenger service up until February of 2020. Most were scrapped between 2007 and 2009 with the arrival of the R160 cars leaving 50 cars running mainly on the BMT Jamaica Line until the R179s were secured in service. Since then, a handful were put into work service with a few others stored until further notice.
