Rockwood!

Rounding Granite Point / Mini High Line / Elbert Creek, Denver and Rio Grande Western K-37 493 rounds the shelf track here above Shalona Lake. This charter train departed Durango under the cover of darkness and has arrived into Rockwood under a muted sunrise. While the Rio Grande never ran the big K-37's to Silverton, one or two did make the journey up this piece of trackage, only to end at Rockwood. Today, the oil-burning big jack is painted back into D&RGW, giving it a couple days to be used for the Trains Magazine Charter.
