The Final Run West - Fillmore & Western Railway. Engineer Andy Wilkinson is at the throttle of FWRY 100, an EMD F7(A) of Chicago & Northwestern Heritage, as the 1949-built product of EMD sways to-and-fro on it's approach to the Highway 126 grade crossing a few miles outside of Santa Paula. This evening's run to Santa Paula and return marks the final run of a train on the Santa Paula Branch Line under the control of the Fillmore & Western Railway after Ventura County selected Sierra Northern as the new operator of the branch line in mid-2021. While the Fillmore & Western also submitted a bid, with big plans on building up the line and in turn its operations, they sadly were not chosen after more than 25 years of service hauling tourist, freight and supporting the local movie industry with the perfect equipment and locations...earning them the name "The Movie Trains."
