Metra SouthWestern Line commuter train 810 has arrived on the Amtrak Terminal’s trackage (in this case, Track 5) and is passing the Amtrak 14th Street maintenance facility. Arrival at Chicago Union Station, some 2 miles distant, will be in less than 5 minutes. METX F40PHM-2 198 is shoving on the rear of this train, which originated in the southwestern suburb of Manhattan. (Chicago, Illinois – September 27, 2021). Thanks to retired Metra train dispatcher Mark Shapp for his knowledge regarding this train, because this Californian was clearly unsure about Metra’s operations! (Metra isn’t as simple as Metrolink is!).
