Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway GP7u 2071 and GP35 2902 sit in San Bernardino’s A Yard. ATSF 2071 was built by EMD in September 1952 as ATSF GP7 2762. It was rebuilt at the railway’s Cleburne (TX) Shops into a GP7u in June 1974, at which time it had a 16-567BC diesel engine installed, the electrical system was upgraded, its nose chopped, the cab’s roofline was modified from rounded to angled, and air conditioner was installed, dynamic brakes removed and was renumbered to ATSF 2071.
