      Illinois Central Gulf F3A 883-A, still in full Gulf Mobile & Ohio paint (as the merger is only a few months old), is seen here with GM&O E7A 101 (the former Alton 101). GM&O 883-A was built in June 1947. As is typical of GM&O locomotives, this engine has a number of throwback details, such as poling pockets and pilot steps. (St. Louis, Missouri – December 14, 1972).
