Before Canadian National had its own route between Duluth/Superior and Chicago, it relied on trackage rights over Burlington Northern, until merging Wisconsin Central into the family in 2001 to accomplished the task. On May 17, 1997, CN train 340 crosses the Wisconsin River at Crawford, Wisconsin, on its trip to Chicago on BN.
