| Gillham is located on the Shreveport Sub south of Rich Mountain down towards De Queen. In 65 miles since topping the summit at Rich Mountain, the railroad will drop from 1621 feet to 382 feet in a rugged roller coaster profile. The railroad twists and turns especially thru the Gillham area where 13 miles of 30 mph speed restrictions exist. A heavy dynamic howl is heard as this Hatton rock train approaches MP 425. The engineer keeps the 90 cars of rock in check as the train drops down the .9% grade for the next 2 miles. |
