Day One for the 301: The westbound Empire Builder ascends Stevens Pass en route to Seattle on a cold and wet Spring morning. Pulling the train are two of Amtrak's newest: Siemens Mobility built ALC-42 locomotives numbers 301 and 300. This day marked the first occasion that ALC-42 locomotives pulled an Amtrak train unaccompanied by a P42.
