Guided tour of the Kerzers signal box, which was in operation from 1901 to 2004. The Bruchsal G type system was then replaced by an electronic interlocking that is now remotely controlled from the BLS operations center in Spiez. In the signal box, the switches, shunting signals and signals were operated, this on commands that were transmitted via wire from the unlocking box in front of the station building. Red are the levers for entry and exit signals, blue those for switches, track closures and shunting signals, green the track levers. The entire former safety system, i.e. the unlocking box near the station building and the signal box in the tower between the two track groups, is largely functional, maintained and cared for by the Kerzers Signal Box Association and demonstrated to the interested public in guided tours. With its crossover of the Payerne-Ins (former Jura-Simplon Railway, later SBB) and Bern-Neuenburg (Bern-Neuchatel Railway, later BLS) lines at the same level, the Kerzers station is unique in Switzerland.
