          Remarks & Notes
Amtrak’s eastbound Southwest Chief zips through Ancona, Illinois, on the afternoon of June 26, 1993—passing fields of corn that definitely will be beyond “knee high by Fourth of July.” Powering No. 4 is a B32BWH “Pepsi can” and a pair of older EMD F40PHs, and because of the corn fields here, you won’t even be able to see the tracks later in the summer when the crop is full grown.
