Timber on the move. Santa Maria Valley 2-6-2 #205 is on the move with a load of heavy timber as she rumbles across the wooden trestle spanning the South Santiam River, headed north out of Lebanon, OR on the Albany & Eastern Railroad.

This image was captured on a Lerro Photography charter night session which featured both static shots and run-bys and fixed, LED "hot-lights." This particular scene, with a moving train, was primarily intended for videographers, but I decided to give it a shot with my Nikon Z9, hand-held at 6400 ISO and 1/30th of a second at f/4, panning with the train. The body stabilization and high ISO performance of mirrorless cameras is getting pretty good. With good quality lighting, a tripod is really no longer necessary for shooting at night.
