        Remarks & Notes
Crossing Trout Brook. Here's a first-of-its-kind aerial look at Bridgton & Saco River #7, as she charges across Trout Brook on the WW&F Railway via the rare Howe Boxed Pony Truss Bridge, which was installed here in 2018. This bridge was historically used for standard gauge operations and is much wider than would be typical for a bridge on a 2-foot gauge railroad. An unlike most covered bridges, this one is open on the top. This is also the site of the famous "Mason's Wreck" of 1905, in which a southbound train like this one jumped the track and ended up in the brook, taking the original bridge span with it. The current bridge is far more stout than what existed here historically. Note also that water level in Trout Brook was pretty high this day, due to recent rains. In August, the creek was darn near dry.
