          Remarks & Notes
PURCELL OK July 29 1979 — Amtrak SDP40F 526 leads the northbound Lone Star as it transitions from Santa Fe's Northern Division to Middle Division. Note peculiar font used in fireman-side number board. At the right in the photo is the sanding tower of the abandoned Santa Fe engine facility. My photo.

The wide open spaces of the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma have little service - one train for the entire state. South Dakota has none.
