        Remarks & Notes
Unusual place for a high-speed train
In 1992-93, Amtrak tested the Swedish-built X2000. The train was designed and built by Kalmar Verkstad (later merged with Asea Brown Boveri, Inc.) for the Swedish State Railways (SJ), and leased to Amtrak, who tested the train and then used it in revenue service for a few months in early 1993. From May to July 1993, the train was taken on a national tour and displayed around the Amtrak system.

In this view, the high-speed train negotiates Soo Line’s usually freight-only line towards Muskego Yard in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on June 28, 1993. Once it reaches Cut Off tower, it will once again be on the main line and will reverse eastward to Milwaukee’s Amtrak Station. This circuitous route was used to avoid the sharp curve on the east side of the station.
