      Remarks & Notes
Fall Arrival: The Portland section of the Amtrak Empire Builder approaches its destination of Portland Union Station as it passes BNSF's Lake Yard on a cool fall morning. Leading the train on this sunny morning is ALC-42 Charger locomotive 301, resplendent in the commemorative "Day One" livery. The ALC-42s have slowly replaced the General Electric Genesis Series locomotives over the last six months on the Empire Builder. By the end of 2022, most equipment sets were running with the new Charger locomotives.
