Fortunately, Amtrak GP38 723, getting some TLC in the carrier's Wilmington Maintenance Facility, has retained its builder's plate for the last 52? years, providing easy access to its heritage. Built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division as Louisville & Nashville GP38 4003 in June 1970, this Geep later became Seaboard System 6224, and following yet another merger, CSX Transportation 2133.
