The "Slim Princess" steps onto the table. Watching the track interface carefully, the fireman on Southern Pacific Locomotive #18 carefully marshals his locomotive onto the gallows-style, "Armstrong" turntable at the south end of the Laws yard for a quick turn.
This image was captured during a March, 2023 photo shoot at the Laws Museum near Bishop, California, featuring the Southern Pacific 10-wheeler, #18. Unfortunately, as realistic as this scene looks, the current condition of the museum's turntable is not considered robust enough to hold a steam locomotive, so the 18 never actually entered the bridge. Whether or not the turntable will be restored to operational condition in the future was not known as of the date of this event.
