Missabe Miracle… high fives went all around the St. Louis River Road bridge In Proctor, MN on June 6, 2022 as the 17:00 E Lead job kicks cars at DMIR’s old Proctor yard in golden hour sun with DMIR SD40T-3 403 and DMIR SD38-2 215. 403 is the last SD40T-3 that still wears its Missabe maroon and gold after the Canadian National buyout of DMIR in 2004… then the same with 215. It is the last Missabe SD38-2 that is not in CN colors yet. It was quite a rare experience seeing these two paired together, being the last two standing DMIR locomotives that have not been repainted to Canadian National scheme that are on the CN roster. Getting word about this the night before, we made the extreme last minute decision to drop everything and make the 8 hour drive up to Duluth for this rare duo the next day, needles to say we were not disappointed!
