A Sheep in Wolf's Clothing
A Kansas City to Los Angeles intermodal ends its trip with a BNSF fakebonnet. When BNSF was newly formed, they acquired a handful of Dash 9s originally ordered by the Santa Fe railroad. Instead of painting these units into BNSF's iconic "pumpkin orange," these workhorses retained their ATSF Warbonnet scheme, this time with BNSF lettering. Railfans like to call these engines "fakebonnets," but for a Massachusetts railfan such as myself, these are pretty cool to see.
