For the very first time, an Amtrak ALC-42 Charger locomotive built by Siemens USA leads Amtrak's Capitol Limited from Chicago, IL to Washington D.C. A few weeks ago the ALC-42 was planned to lead the Capitol Limited, but was dropped at the last minute. The Siemens ALC-42 finally got its chance to lead, bringing P030 eastbound through Washington Grove, Maryland, on July 12, 2023. The future of Amtrak's long-distance trains is slowly moving to the east coast.
