"Giruno" highspeed trains RABe 501 # 026 "Basel-Stadt" and # 010 "Basel-Landschaft" ("united canton Basel") of the SBB in multiple control are running through the "staircase" of the Biaschina on the Gotthard south ramp between Lavorgo and Giornico, as train EC 10313 from Zürich to Chiasso and further as EC 311 to Venezia Santa Lucia/Italy. Since the derailment of a northbound freight train in the Gotthard Base Tunnel (GBT) on august 10, all passenger trains are rerouted over the mountain line, probably for several months. There is huge damage in the west bore over several kilometers, and due to safety reasons there is no passenger traffic allowed when one bore is open only.
