| From the 1970's to the late 1990's the AT&SF adopted a new paint scheme for freight diesels known as the Bluebonnet or Yellowbonnet scheme, which placed more yellow on the locomotives. The purpose for the paint scheme was to provide higher visibility at crossings. Aside from the yellow on the nose the truck assemblies, previously colored black, received silver paint.
