Santa Fe All The Way! Following some afternoon rain showers, the sun made an appearance just in time for train L-CHI105 with a trio of antique Santa Fe warbonnets at the helm. B40-8W #552 leading C44-9W #’s 673 and 674, followed by a regular BNSF GEVO. They are seen here crossing the Des Planes River bridge in Lemont, where the Santa Fe used to run everyday before the BNSF merger In 1995. 27 years after the railroad merger, these three locomotives still wear their veteran Santa Fe warbonnet paint. Seeing one at the point of a train In 2023 is pretty rare. But three on one train, and on former Santa Fe trackage is the icing on the cake!
