| Three-phase electric locomotive E 551 # 001 of the Ferrovie delle Stato for 3600 V AC 16,7 Hz, built in 1921. The E.551 series was an electric locomotive series of the Italian state railroad Ferrovie dello Stato with 2000 kW and 50 km/h maximum velocity. It was used on the three-phase AC network in Northern Italy, particularly for freight trains. The locomotives were used on all lines of the three-phase network in Northern Italy. They were equipped with a boiler for use in passenger train service. 183 of this series were built and withdrawn til 1965. |
