Retired Santa Fe way car (a caboose for most of us) ATSF 999945 has taken on a second life as a yard office at Kaiser, the yard serving (surprisingly enough) Kaiser Steel Industries in Fontana, on the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe's Second District in southern California. Originally ATSF 2084, this car received a fresh coat of silver (aluminum?) paint in August 1975 … and fifteen months later this is how it looked. (Fontana, California – December 24, 1976)
