After Amtrak train 313, the westbound Missouri River Runner, arrives in Kansas City in the evening, the train heads further west to Santa Fe Junction to be turned on the wye there. Just before 10:00 pm the equipment returns to Union Station, where it will spend the night. At 8:15 the next morning, this train departs eastbound from KC for St. Louis as Amtrak Missouri River Runner number 314. (The Missouri River Runners operate between Missouri's two largest cities twice per day.) As seen here, these trains are now powered by Siemens "Charger" SC-44 locomotives.
