| "Ancestor train" (Ahnenzug) ABe 8/12 # 3514 of the Rhaetian Railway is leaving Alp Grüm with PE 951 BERNINA EXPRESS from Chur over the Albula and Bernina World Heritage lines to Tirano. The railcar changed direction since the day before because the evening before it ran as an empty extra train from St. Moritz via the Albula line to Chur and Landquart, but this morning it ran in the opposite direction directly from Chur via Albula-Samedan to Pontresina to join the Bernina line. The leading railcar is reminiscent of the Chur-Arosa Railway, which merged with the Rhaetian Railway in 1942. The middle car bears the colors that were common on the RhB at that time. The third car body in yellow is reminiscent of the Bernina Railway, which merged with the RhB in 1943. The "Fanconi" house in the background and the "Belvedere" restaurant above. |
