Following the electrification of the Western Trunk Line, TRA acquired the GE E42C electric locomotive with three variants. The first batch to deliver was the E200 Series, equipping Motor-Alternator Set for power supply to carriages. Entered service in 1978, it has been the main fleet for hauling passenger and freight trains. These units still operate the Chu-Kuang Express till nowadays.
