Remarks & Notes

Bringing up the rear of the World's Fair Daylight, a 13-car train of privately-owned passenger cars – all painted in Daylight red and orange – heading to the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans, Louisiana. Pulling this train is former Southern Pacific GS-4 4-8-4 4449 (also painted in SP Daylight colors). The train has just recently arrived in Fresno, where it will spend the night before continuing down the San Joaquin Valley to Los Angeles before heading east to New Orleans. Grant Supply 1290 "Appekunny Mountain" is a 3 roomette-observation-lounge car, built by ACF in 1951 for service on Great Northern Railway's Empire Builder and Western Star. That reproduction of the original Daylight neon tail sign is a stunner, particularly at night! (Fresno, California – May 11, 1984)
