On a 97oF (36oC) afternoon, a pair of BNSF Railway diesels handling locals out of northeastern Colorado await their next assignment. On the left is "GP39-3" 2549 (originally a 1962-built EMD GP30, now with a rebuilt cab, ex-BNSF 2421, ex-ATSF 2721, ex-ATSF 3221, originally ATSF 1221), and on the right is "GP39E" 2745 (also an EMD GP30, built in June 1962, ex-BN 2755; ex-BN 2241; née-CBQ 964). Even after sixty-two years of service – and a rebuilding or two – these venerable Geeps just keep in earning their keep! (Brush, Colorado – July 11, 2024)
