Montana’s Horse Gulch fire, first reported earlier this day north of Canyon Ferry Lake, continues to grow and begins to lay down smoke to the west as sunset nears on July 9, 2024. Nearby on the former Montana Rail Link main line over Winston Hill, BNSF’s Helena local approaches the west siding switch of Winston and reflects the golden sun enhanced by the wildfire. The train is taking the siding here to meet a westbound BNSF oil train.
