Descending from Tehachapi (at an elevation of 3,970 feet [1,210 m]) down to Bakersfield (at 404 ft [123 m] of elevation) is BNSF Railway train U-PADHLG1-01, a unit train of DODX flats carrying M1 Abrams tanks from Paducah KY to Herlong CA (a census-designated place in California's Lassen County, at the extreme eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range and home of the Sierra Army Depot, which serves as the Army's End of First Life Center and the CONUS-based Army Prepositioned Stock Site). This train, powered by BNSF ES44DC 7721, Dash 9-44CW 655 and SD70MAC 9672 (with Dash 9-44CW 4380 on the rear), exits Tehachapi's Tunnel 2. (Bealville, California – March 6, 2008)
