    Remarks & Notes
Lackawanna Legacy. On September 15, 2024, NJ Transit hosted a "Meet Our Rail Fleet: Past and Present" event at Hoboken Terminal. The "past" fleet included Delaware, Lackawanna & Western multiple unit subscription car 2454 and Erie Lackawanna U34CH locomotive 3372, on loan from the Whippany Railway Museum and the United Railroad Historical Society of NJ, respectively. Car 2454 was originally club car 484, a locomotive-hauled car built by the Barney and Smith Car Co. in 1912, and was converted to an MU trailer in 1930. It was used for subscription service for club members only, and was typically on the western end of its Gladstone Branch trains. It also has the distinction of leading the last NJ Transit train that used the Lackawanna MUs on August 24, 1984. Locomotive 3372 was one of 32 built from 1970-1973 by GE for NJDOT, and operated by the Erie Lackawanna Railway for commuter service in NJ. After the units were withdrawn from service in 1994, 3372 was donated to the URHS and stored pending restoration. In September 2023, the cosmetically-restored unit was unveiled by URHS, and there are plans to restore it to operation in the future. It also has the distinction of leading the "Farewell to the U34CH" excursion on August 27, 1994.
