Cooling its heals …. er … wheels in beautiful downtown Hackberry is a trainload of ballast headed for Franconia, Arizona. Eastbound BNSF train U-PPHFXX5-28B, with BNSF ES44DC 7862 and GECX Dash 9-44CW 4573 (ex-BNSF 4573) for power, this train originated in Porphyry, California (in the city of Corona). Oddly, Hackberry is east of Franconia … Perhaps the crew wasn’t paying attention and overshot their destination by 65 miles! And there should be no doubt about how the derail is set, either...
