| CN is already getting their maintenance work projects going in Iowa early back in 2019. A few rock trains were running around to help get rock in position for work projects starting in April. One thing new CN is doing is dumping rock off a slot type train for crossing renewals. Here a rock train dumps a pile of rock as the CN foreman watches near MP 265. This train made stops at a few crossings west of Independence. The train is madeup of a few trains that are connected by a conveyor belt that is thru the cars. They are connect to a dumper car (blue/yellow cars) that can dump rock via an arm that reaches out to the right of way like seen here. |
