    Remarks & Notes
On October 26, 1992, the Southern California Regional Rail Authority, operating under the name Metrolink, began operating a commuter railroad operation on three lines (the Ventura County Line, Santa Clarita Line [later expanded to become the Antelope Valley Line], and San Bernardino Line) out of Los Angeles, with another four lines added throughout the years since. In Metrolink’s first year, when many wondered how long these trains would last in car-crazy southern California, an outbound train makes a stop at the former Southern Pacific station in Glendale, roughly six miles from Los Angeles Union Station and the first stop on its journey to Ventura … or perhaps Santa Clarita. (Unfortunately, after 31 years I cannot find my notes for this photo, so I am not sure to which destination this train is headed.)

Power for this train, SCAX F59PH 871, was built by GMD just two months earlier. (Glendale, California – June 1993)
