CSXT 5431 (ES44DC) leads a westbound CSX intermodal through Hammond, IN. The train is passing underneath one of the supports for the South Shore's new Monon extension, which will bring riders down to Dyer, IN along the old Monon right-of-way. The new trackage meets the existing South Shore trackage at newly built and recently opened Hammond Gateway Station on the west side of Hammond, which replaces the older brick building just a couple blocks east of here. Thankfully, the new parking lot still provides an excellent view of CSX action, while this shot is taken from the newly paved section of Hudson Street on the south side of the CSX tracks.
