Conecticut Department of Transportation Dash 8-40BP 6703 powered CDOT Hartford Line train 6410, which arrived at Springfield Union Station from New Haven Union Station at 9:03 pm (21:03) with CDOT cab car 1709 leading. It will depart back to New Haven as train 6411 at 9:45 pm (21:45).
CDOT 6703 is the former Amtrak 838. The official General Electric model designation is Dash 8-40BP, but they were more commonly known as P40DCs after the delivery of Amtrak's P42DCs. Apparently, Amtrak changed the designation as they found the builder's model designation too cumbersome., and railfans (who often use incorrect model designations) followed suit.
