Union Pacific intermodal train ILBMN-13 passes the Palm Springs Amtrak station (obscured by the containers) as it descends Beaumont Hill on its way from Long Beach CA to Marion AR. Twenty-six miles ago, UP SD70ACe 8961 and SD70M 4123 were at 2592-feet elevation, but in another rhour or so they will haul this this 7341-foot train through the lowest elevation on any railroad in America, at 266-feet below sea level!
