| Blue Ridge Southern's operations have been severely limited in the aftermath of the closure of their main customer in Canton and losing complete access to the outside world when NS's trackage on both sides of Asheville was wiped out in Hurricane Helene. BLU itself suffered some damage from the storm as well. NS recently reopened their line to Knoxville, and the first revenue train arrived in Asheville last week so traffic is finally starting to resume after several months. A pair of ex-D&H GP39-2s are the lone power in Canton awaiting their next assignment. They'd go to Asheville the next day to pick up some cars off NS. |
