| In 2004, the City of Charlotte bought three replica streetcars from Gomaco Trolley Company to run on former Norfolk Southern Railway tracks in downtown. Service was on Thursday and Friday evenings and during the day on Saturday. This ran for several years until Charlotte Area Transit System began building the light rail line from downtown to Pineville. Even after the light rail trains began running, the trolley cars ran on the same tracks for several years until CATS authorities decided it was better to concentrate on light rail service. |
