Looking like a scene out of early Amtrak, the caboose train weaves out ahead of the Nebraska Zephyr alongside the coach train. Diesel Days is, hands down, a feast of epic proportions.
BN 1 holds at East Union depot with the Nebraska Zeyphr train set as it waits for the coach train to clear East Switch before proceeding east down the mainline to Kishwaukee Grove.
The coach train rolls eastbound through the farm fields in Union, IL. Burlington Northern 1 (EMD F9A) leads five F Unit set, trailing are the Burlington Northern 2 (EMD F9B), Metra 308 (EMD F7A), ... (more)
Five F-units lead the coach train through Johnson's siding east of Union for Diesel Days. This is possibly the craziest consist I've ever seen at the IRM.
Five F-units lead the coach train past Spaulding Tower and into station track 2 at IRM. Only here during Diesel Days can you see five Fs together on a train!
The sunset is close to being over and the blue hour begins. In this 30 second exposure four cab units displayed, BN 1 F9A, C&NW 411 F7A, MILW 118-C F7A, and MILW 37-A E9A.
A display of BN units was put together for visiting "Friends of Burlington Northern" members. Here the BN 1, BN 2, BN 5383 and BN 3 are lined up under the sanding tower at IRM.
