One of northeastern North Dakota's two current resident GP50s is second out as the Mayville Local rolls southward on its namesake line out of Larimore.
With a GP50 second out, the Mayville Local races westward near Arvilla to get to the junction east of Larimore before a very late eastbound Empire Builder roars through.
After a brief stop at Powell, the Mayville Local trundles up to D.L. Switch to head into the yard. The trailing unit was apparently suffering from mechanical problems and was dead in tow.
The Mayville Local cruises westward over the Freshwater Coulee. This train typically departs Grand Forks on Monday and Thursday mornings, but it was held back today, allowing for this angle.

The Mayville Local cruises back into Grand Forks after the overnight stay in Mayville. It will have to wait for a grain train to clear the interlocking before going all the way into the yard.
The westbound Empire Builder has cleared, the Mayville Local has reversed from the junction into town to grab a boxcar, and it will now race for Grand Forks.
